Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court turns down diplomats from Maduro’s dictatorship

This Tuesday the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil (STF) ratified the decision of the Government of Jair Bolsonaro to reject the acreditation of the diplomats of Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship and ordered their departure from Brazilian territory.

“It is not up to the Judiciary to replace the President of the Republic in political decisions on the country’s international relations and, in particular, the discrediting of foreign diplomats,” said Judge Carmen Lúcia Antunes.





Likewise, the STF pointed out that if they remain in the country, the Chavista representatives will have to regularize their migratory situation, as do the thousands of migrants who enter Brazil fleeing the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela on a daily basis.
