El príncipe Jorge de Inglaterra, tercero en la línea de sucesión al trono de su bisabuela, vivió este jueves a los 4 años su primer día de escuela y no pudo ir acompañado de su madre, embarazada y con náuseas.

Jorge llegó a la escuela privada Saint Thomas, en el barrio londinense de Battersea, de la mano de su padre, el príncipe Guillermo, que lo llevó en su vehículo Range Rover.





El niño vestía un uniforme azul marino, con pantalones cortos y un suéter de cuello de pico, del que asomaba una camisa azul cielo, calzando mocasines negros con calcetines.

La directora del centro salió al encuentro del niño, que andaba cabizbajo y muy pegado a su padre, ajeno a este gran hito en la vida.

El niño, al que sus compañeritos conocerán como Jorge Cambridge, por el ducado de sus padres, había acudido hasta ahora a una guardería, y hará este curso ya en una escuela antes de empezar a los cinco años la educación primaria.

La directora del centro, Helen Haslem, expresó su esperanza de que Jorge “tenga la confianza suficiente para ser él mismo”, en declaraciones a la agencia Press Association.

Catalina, su madre, está embarazada de menos de tres meses de su tercer hijo y, como le ocurrió con Jorge y Carlota, sufre de hiperémesis gravídica —nauseas y vómitos—, por lo que no pudo acompañar a su primogénito.

Según su página internet, la escuela de Jorge recibe a 560 alumnos de entre 4 y 13 años, y ofrece cursos de arte, ballet, teatro, francés e informática, poniendo el acento en valores como la amabilidad, la cortesía, la confianza, la humildad y la generosidad.

La guía británica de las mejores escuelas “The Good Schools Guide” la describe como un establecimiento “un poco caótico” para “padres cosmopolitas que quieren dar a sus hijos la mejor educación inglesa que el dinero puede comprar”.
